New Syracuse dining in well-used location

Syracuse's newest downtown restaurant certainly has opened in a well-used location.

The Taste opened Monday at 318 East Fayette Street. That has been the home to Shell & Bone, Shenanigans, the Burgundy Lounge and Rafferty's.

The chef is Jennifer Polak, a familiar name to some local foodies for her work at Club Sushi in Mohegan Manor in Baldwinsville as well as Choices, her own take-out place in East Syracuse.

For now, at least, the 80-seat restaurant is open only for lunch Monday to Friday, although its bar is open until 6 p.m.

Polak is offering the usual lunch items such as salads, sandwiches, soups and burgers -- including a two-pounder she boasts is the largest sold in the city. It is meant to feed four.

The Taste also offers delivery mid-days Monday and Tuesday and mid-days and evenings Wednesday through Saturday. Hours
