New study proves that knitting burns more calories than sex

Until recently, many thought that sex was a great calorie burner, however, many women would have preferred knitting then getting busy. Well luckily for those women that feel that way, they can. According to a new study posted on Food Beast on Feb. 3 knitting burns more calories than sex does. How is this possible if you aren't doing a lot of work?

Previously, the study was based on the assumption that people were having hot and steamy love sessions that lasted an hour or longer. The sad truth is most people's single sexual encounters last six minutes or less each time. Those sex minutes, regardless of how vigorous your love session is, will only burn you 21 calories, total. To put this into perspective, you burn 10 calories just by standing up.

Most knitters have enough stamina that they can work those needles for several hours at a time. Each hour that you knit, you will burn 55 calories. Just imagine how much of an easy work out you could be having if you sat around knitting for a day?

So next time you feel like getting a good work out, grab your knitting needles, a colorful ball of yarn, and sit on the couch for a couple of hours. It's okay if you feel like knitting all day, it's a good workout.
