New Story is accepting applications for the 2014 New Story Fund from January 1 through January 31, 2014, at www.NewStory.com. The New Story Fund distributes $50,000 annually in the form of awards to families in Pennsylvania. Families can be nominated for an individual award of up to $1,500 each year.

Parents of children with disabilities often run into costs that are not covered by their insurance. Funds, like the ones offered by New Story can help defray costs. In 2009, New Story, a company that offers schools and services for children facing the most serious and complex challenges, established the New Story Fund to provide families with an alternative funding source for needed products and services. The New Story Fund is designed to help children and families who are faced with the following challenges: autism spectrum disorder (ASD), serious emotional disturbances, mental retardation or other developmental disabilities. Examples of products and services funded by the New Story Fund in the past include: durable medical equipment, therapy services, prescriptions, after-school care, home/safety modifications, camp tuition, and many others.

If you visit their website you will find guidelines on making applications. Many families wait until the last minute to worry about summer camp. The time to worry is now. The money that has been available to families is decreasing making opportunities like this very competitive. Start planning today for tomorrow.
