New 'Star Wars' film by Zach Snyder to be filmed based on an old samurai movie

According to a publication made on Jan. 14, 2013 by The Mary Sue , it appears that Zach Snyder, a well known writer, producer, and director, will be partaking in a production of a "Star Wars" project where the story line will run in parallel with the regular "Star Wars" universe timeline and will run in the same galaxy, far, far away.

Contrary to current events, Vulture published on their online site that Zach Snyder wasn't the one chosen to work on the "Star Wars: Episode VII" project.

He is in fact developing a Star Wars project for Lucasfilm that is set within the series’ galaxy, though parallel to the next trilogy. It will be an as-yet-untitled Jedi epic loosely based on Akira Kurosawa’s 1954 classic Seven Samurai, with the ronin and katana being replaced by the Force-wielding knights and their iconic lightsabers.

Vulture doesn't have any statement that would consider this to be entirely accurate, but made mention that it would not go into to production until just after "Star Wars 7". One would have to consider that a lot could happen between now and the time it goes into production.

To give some fans an idea of what "Seven Samurai was all about, it's premise was based on a 16th century village that hires warriors to product their community from bandits. The movie starred the well known Toshiro Mifune and Takashi Shimura.
