Movie fans in Scottsdale are waiting for the release of "Star Trek Into Darkness" to theaters. On Tuesday, March 5, Digital Spy shared new photos released from the film. The Toronto Sun also shared new comments made by LeVar Burton about the film and the man behind it. Check out the photos by visiting the slide show. Levar Burton is one of the men involved with "Star Trek: The Next Generation." He both starred and directed episodes of the series, and he recently made comments about J.J. Abrams and his vision for his films. Abrams has said that he wants his new creations to be all people remember of "Star Trek," and Burton has taken offense at those comments. He said the following, according to The Toronto Sun:
"[Abrams' Star Trek] was a great movie, and he brought a whole new generation to Trek. But I'm a little disquieted by things I hear coming out of his camp, things like he would like to be remembered as the only Trek - which would discount everything before he got there. There's 'breaking the canon,' which he did (by re-inventing Star Trek's timeline). But there's also honoring the canon. And to pretend to be the only one is really egocentric and immature."
Abrams is not only bringing this second "Star Trek" film to the big screen, but he is also working on the new "Star Wars" film for Disney. "Star Wars VII" will be released in 2015. Fans are buzzing about the pending release of this film on social media. One fan said the following on Twitter recently:
OMG there's a new Star Trek Into Darkness trailer and photos!!!! Totally hyperventilating right now #StarTrek2
Scottsdale residents will be able this new film in the "Star Trek" franchise at the Harkins Shea 14 or another local theater in the area once it is released this summer.
