New York, NY -- Brooklyn-based Rockstar Music, Inc. introduced today a new social music game that gives aspiring artists another spotlight to showcase their talents. The service is called "Breakout Band," and as part of its launch, artitists can compete to create a new theme song for Old Navy. The contest launches today and ends June 12, 2011.
Breakout Band is an application that includes an interactive beatmaker and multi-track recorder. Users can create and lay down drum beat and other music tracks and then record their voice over the tracks. Breakout Band also includes a proprietary pitch-tone technology that enables anyone, in the company's words, "to be the next Ke$ha or T-Pain."
Users can release their compositions to share socially, such as to weekly charts, competitions, share with friends on Facebook and Twitter, and download to music services like Apple's iTunes. No experience is needed.
In a release, the company said "the product speaks to a growing contingent of aspiring pop stars who have witnessed overnight stardom through American Idol, Glee and YouTube and desire an outlet to share their own voice in hopes of being discovered. " The company believes BreakoutBand will appeal to a new generation of music fans for whom the consumption of music alone does not satisfy their needs and seek a more interactive experience.
