New snow welcomed in Sierra

See also

The last few days have seen a series of small storms blow through the Sierra. The total snowfall amounts generally run in the 16 to 20 inches or so at the resorts.

While this isn't going to bring a gigantic sigh of relief from everyone, it is still a very welcomed blanket of snow.

The resorts have been able to open more terrain, and a few of the black diamond runs have opened for the first time. Skiing through the trees at the higher spots is possible in more places.

Any snow is good snow, and the powder that the early birds enjoyed was extremely good. The trails that needed more coverage got it. It's a good bit of snow for beginners and more experienced skiers as well.

There's more on the way, which is always good news for the snow sports crowd. What did the resorts get, and what's open? Check the list below for your favorite resort. Check back here often for updates, or to simply recheck mountain conditions from one spot, right here.

A few more storms would be wonderful. Not only does it benefit the ski resorts and everyone who enjoys outdoor recreation in the snow, that blanket of snow keeps the forest healthy and dampens down the fire danger.

The forest critters, who count on a good snowy winter, are just as happy as the skiers and boarders.
