Wonderland Theatre for young actors is offering classes for children five to twelve years of age. The new session is beginning on January 11, 2012 and is open to any young people interested in developing their acting skills while having fun.
Children's active imaginations are the perfect foundation for building upon to provide them with the elements of putting on and acting in a play. Wonderland Theatre identifies the process in three steps:
- the use of body, voice and imagination
- the development of characters
- the understanding of the construction of stories
Rhymes for all Times is being offered to children ages five to eight years old. The classes are held for one hour on Wednesdays from 4:00 pm to 5:00pm for six weeks: January 11, 18, 25 and February 1, 8 &15, 2012. During the session students will learn about poetry by selecting and performing poetry. Characterization through the use of different voices, body language and facial expressions will be learned. Parents are invited to a special performance on the final day.
Creative Characters is a class where participants will explore acting through characters discovery. Students nine through 12 years of age will meet on Wednesdays for one hour from 5:15 pm - 6:15 pm on January 11, 18, 25 and February 1,8, and 15, 2012. Students will chose characters to develop in their own skits such as the wicked villain, a memorable hero, a bumbling salesperson or possibly a fair princess. Parents are welcome on the last day for a performance by class.
Tuition for the six week sessions is $65.00 per child. Students are asked to dress in sturdy, comfortable clothing and wear sturdy athletic shoes. For more information about these classes and Wonderland Theatre please visit the Wonderland Theatre website.
