All World Painted Blood collector's edition covers
Metal legends Slayer have revealed the artwork to their upcoming album World Painted Blood, due out on November 3. The collector's edition of the album will be available in four different covers: each is one fourth of a larger map of the world stylized with blood and skulls and featuring the album's title scrawled across a grotesquely-looking continent (pictured to right). In addition, each of the four covers will include a red translucent panel with the band's logo that covers the main artwork (pictured below).
The deluxe edition of World Painted Blood will have a larger layout of the complete world map in a double-digipak (also pictured below). Aside from the album itself, the deluxe edition will come with “Playing with Dolls,” a 20-minute animated graphic novel set to the band's new songs plus a bonus track not released on the album proper. This animated feature will be presented on DVD format with its own booklet.
Finally, a 180-gram vinyl edition will also be sold, but the details of its artwork are not known at this time. For the album's track listing and first review from the press, see this article. To read drummer Dave Lombardo's thoughts on the recording process, click here.
