In the past few years, Chalmette Movies has emerged as one of the absolute best places in New Orleans to catch independent films – shorts, features, locally made, and even internationally produced movies. This week, another unique independent film comes to the theater.
Liar, a new suspense-thriller from writer/director Todd E. Braley, is about three women who encounter a mysterious man that helps them eliminate their abusive husbands. When he comes to collect what is due to him, the women have second thoughts about what they have done.
After a series of abuse, Etta, Adelle and Hannah are in a state of depression. There is a man that lives in the trailer park they all live in. His name is Whittiker. He witnesses the three women being abused and helps them rid themselves of these horrible men. Before helping them, he states that they all must make payment to him when he comes calling. This puts the women into a state of panic wondering what the payment will be.
This film was shot in Colorado and is inspired by an actual event that happened in writer/director Braley's life.

Liar stars Darius Devontaye Green, Kristina Andrew, Tera Garnett, and two local Louisiana actors – Brandon Lofton and Sonja Nelson Provost. The film Rated-R for language and mild violence
Liar will screen Tuesday, September 17 at Chalmette Movies. The first Liar screening at 7:00 p.m. has already sold out, but due to this high demand, a second screening has been added at 8:30 p.m. the same night, with tickets still available.
Tickets are $5. Information on purchasing tickets early through PayPal can be found here.
The director, actors, and crew will participate in a Q&A session after the screenings.
So come out and support Chalmette Movies (8700 W. Judge Perez Dr.) by catching this new film, so that the theater can continue bringing interesting films like this to the New Orleans-area. Visit the theater’s website for more information, directions, showtimes, and ticket prices.
