New Sheriff in Flagler County sworn in

Flagler County’s new Sheriff, James L. Manfre, was sworn in Tuesday afternoon at the Sheriff’s Operations Center in Bunnell. Newly-appointed Public Information Officer Lt. Robert Weber said the swearing in was officiated by Circuit Court Judge Dennis Craig. According to a news release, Sheriff Manfre told city and county dignitaries and supporters at the noontime ceremony, “I thank all of you for being here today and I look forward to leading this agency in a new direction.” The ceremony was a return of sorts for Sheriff Manfre, as he also served as Flagler County Sheriff until 2004 after winning the office in the 2000 General Election. Manfre became Sheriff again at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, and along with Undersheriff Rick Staly, swore in members of the Sheriff’s Department working the midnight shift at the Operations Center that morning.
