2013 is going to be an epic year for Atlanta's Sevendust.
Not even a full month into the new year and a the tune, "Decay," has premiered online and on the Billboard charts. It began as a riff left over from the Cold Ray Memory recording sessions. "We were starting to get burnt and we didn't want to push it. So we had this riff, and we said, 'Let's jam it and see if anything comes of it.' And before you know it, it became a song that ends up on the record, and everybody listens to it and they end up picking that as the single, which was pretty cool," explains Sevendust drummer Morgan Rose.
"Decay" is the initial single from the forthcoming album, Black Out The Sun, due out on March 26. This will be Sevendust's ninth studio release.
And beginning in February the band will hit the road for a seemingly exhausting schedule of tour dates. The first leg of the tour the band will co-headline with Lacuna Coil and will be making two appearances in Illinois: February 19 at Boondocks in Springfield and on February 21 in Bloomington at The Castle Theatre.
Then in the spring Coal Chamber and Candlelight Red will be joining the tour. Sevendust and company will roll back through Illinois in April for a couple more shows at Pop's in Sauget, Illinois on April 5, and Mojoes in Joliet on April 9.
