San Jose's Island Moves Family Center is relocated to N. 6th Street and is the new home for Sonny’s Place Hawaiian Shop, Island Moves Productions and Halau Na Wai Ola.
Halau Na Wai Ola, for those who don't kow, is the studio to attend if you've been thinking how great it would be to take hula lessons. Halau Na Wai Ola participates in several competitions, festivals and community events throughout the year and in order to keep class sizes manageable, there are only four open enrollment periods each yea. January 4 opens this semester's enrollment.

The classes include a trial class, that is open to all ages, The $15 fee for the trial class can be applied to monthly costs if you decide to continue. The regular classes include:
- Keiki Hula (Girls - two age levels: ages 4 to 5 years; ages 6 to 12 years)
- Kaikamahine Hula (Girls - ages 6 to 12 years)
- Opio Leadership (Girls - ages 12 to 17 years)
- Wahine Hula (Women - ages 13 years and older)
- Keiki Kane and Kane Hula (Boys/men - ages 6 years and older)
- Gracious & Kupuna (Women/men - ages 45 years and older)
- Tahitian Drumming
- Ori Tahiti (Ages 5-1/2 and older)

I just took hula lessons on a cruise ship in Hawaii. It was a blast and a great core workout, too!
I saw the group from Na Wai Ola perform last year at one of the area museum events and they were wonderful - But a cruise ship to Hawaii: that DOES sound like a fun way to take lessons :-)
