The name is a nod to old-time aerial barnstormers who traveled around the country performing trick flights with their planes. In addition, the winery is located in a historic barn.
Barnstormer offers a variety of Finger Lakes wines along with its own, plus local cheeses, cured meats and snacks to allow customers to build picnics from their menu. Soon to be added: local craft beers.
Says owner Scott Bronstein: "Located in a historic barn with history stemming back to the 1800s, we have made significant renovations to preserve the integrity and atmosphere of this Seneca Lake gem. This property is no stranger to housing wineries. The original winery in Schuyler County was housed here starting back in the 1970s [and operating] until Arcadian Estate Winery was purchased and replaced with Barnstormer Winery."
The facility, which has a heavy concentration on vinifera wines, offers a range of reds (cabernet franc, merlot, pinot noir, cabernet sauvignon), whites (gewürztraminer, semi-dry Riesling) and sweet wines (Angel's Share white blend, Jenny White white blend, Ecstasy red blend, Jenny Red red blend).
