The Witcher series has seen much success amongst role-playing gamers in the last few years, allowing studio CD Projekt RED to spin out two official sequels, one in which was just officially announced earlier this month.
Being the third title in the series, the first of which was based on book series of the same name by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is promised to be set in an open world 30 times larger than the other previous games, and also shall include the return of protagonist Geralt. The developer wants to aim towards exploration on the scale of that of Skyrim.
“The captivating and nonlinear story of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt takes place in a rich, truly open world environment. A world which is thrilling to explore, full of daring adventures, momentous quests, memorable characters, and unique monsters. Players will freely travel through woods, lakes, mountains, cities, and villages. Each region is inhabited by distinct populations with their own customs, legends and problems. The world of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is 30 times bigger than The Witcher 2," said Adam Badowski, head of the studio.
Game Informer was lucky enough to recently showcase new screenshots and info on the upcoming title in its March issue, available now.
