The Sailor Moon Crystal voice cast and some details were revealed during a special Sailor Moon Anniversary event during the Niconico Chokaigi 3 convention during this past weekend.
Sailor Moon Crystal, the title decided by Sailor Moon creator Naoko Takeuchi, will feature a manga faithful adaption of the story of the longtime magical girl icon, instead of continuing the original anime. Sailor Moon Crystal will cover the now infamous Dark Kingdom Arc from the manga.
Yet, Sailor Moon isn’t the only thing returning. Original seiyuu, Kotono Mitsuishi, returns to the role she made famous 22 years ago as lead character Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon. As she steps back in, she will not be alone as the rest of the four Inner Senshi (Soldiers) were revealed. Joining Mitsuishi are Hisako Kanemoto (Cure Peace from Smile Precure) as Sailor Mercury, Rina Satou (Kiyoh from Gurren Lagann) as Sailor Mars, Ami Koshimizu (Kallen from Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion) as Sailor Jupiter and Shizuka Itou (Koko Hekmatyar from Jorungand) as Sailor Venus.
Toei Animation is, of course, will be animating the project; much like the first anime. Munehisa Sakai of One Piece fame will be directing this with character designs by Yukie Sako. From the looks of the art for the anime, it is very much trying to mimic the style of creator Naoko Takeuchi.

The Sailor Senshi will battle the Dark Kindgom and its ruler, Queen Beryl to protect the world and keep them from obtaining the Illusionary Silver Crystal. The new anime is set to premiere on July 5th, 2014 at 7:00pm on Saturdays; much like the original anime. This time though, the anime will be bi-weekly, airing on the first and third Saturdays of every month. It will be streamed worldwide on Niconico’s own service starting on its premiere episode. And those are you curious, that is 6:00 am Eastern Time.

And Sailor Moon is truly back. Her original voice actress has reprised the role. The original theme song is back, just sung by Momoiro Clover Z. They are starting all over again, with the blessing of Sailor Moon’s creator. So, get ready to feel that magic again as we all fight evil by moonlight with Sailor Moon on July 5, 2014 at 7:00pm JT/6:00 am ET.
