Pot roast, schnitzel and Italian dishes like mama used to make.
That seemingly odd combination of comfort foods is what Louie and Abby Parolin are promising from their in-progress Louie's Restaurant, located at 425 North State Street in Syracuse opposite St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center.
Their restaurant will succeed Ilario's Trattoria which closed in February. They are targeting an opening for next Friday (September 13) after interior renovations are completed.
If you're assuming Louie's is named for the co-owner and chef, you'd be partly correct. The Parolins' son, also Louie, will be overseeing the takeout portion of the menu.
The elder Louie formerly cooked at Barbuto's, and the family once operated Connie's Cozy Corner in Eastwood.
Hours: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
