When a $12 million expansion project at Finger Lakes Casino & Racetrack in October, visitors will find 300 more gaming machines and a larger gaming area, as well as -- a new restaurant and new bar and lounge.
The new restaurant, as yet unnamed, will feature table service for more than 100 people. The bar will seat about 145 customers with a stage and dance floor.
Those additions increase the need for food and beverage servers, and about 80 jobs are expected to be added. One job fair already has been held to interview applicants for the positions, about 70% of which will be part time. Another is scheduled for this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in the lower clubhouse.
Currently, the facility offers food and beverage service in the Vineyard Buffet and the Platinum Grille on the casino floor, The Carvery deli, The Wire, the Starting Gate Grill, the Sevens Sports Bar and a Tim Hortons. The executive chef in charge of food services is Dave McDonald, who moved into that position in 2011 after five years as kitchen supervisor.
