New Republic Brewing, College Station’s very own micro/nano brewing operation, has been growing at a slow but steady pace since its founding a couple of year ago. Houston area craft beer fans are fully aware of the brewery’s two flagship brands, Bellows Amber and Skylight Dunkelweizen, but a new style is ready for introduction and New Republic Brewing plans a party to celebrate. Here is some background information:
Who: New Republic Brewing
What: Windlass Launch Party
Where: Harvey Washbangers, 1802 Texas Ave. S, College Station, TX
When: Monday, January 14, 2013, from 6 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Why: To sample New Republic Brewing’s first seasonal brew
New Republic Brewing’s signature brews have been delighting the folks up in Aggieland for some time now. But a pair of selections, however tasty they may be, only creates a yearning for more. New Republic Brewing has spent the last few months working on expansion of the brewing facilities, but the time has finally arrived to introduce the brewery’s growing fan base to a new beer.
That new product is Windlass, a beer that was originally intended as a Fall seasonal. The beer is a porter, but not just any porter. This porter is made with sweet potatoes for a unique flavor and personality all its own. The new beer has been available at tours, but as far as I know, the beer has not been previously offered in a tavern or restaurant, so this occasion will mark the first opportunity for New Republic Brewing fans to sample a brand new NRB product.
A pair of fine brews is a nice place to start, but three of a kind beats a pair in any hand. Windlass Sweet Potato Porter is the New Republic Brewing product for which fans have been waiting and it is ready for you to sample this Monday evening at Harvey Washbangers in College Station. Be there, and savor this new local brew from our friends at NRB.
