Multiplatform release ships on 7/14/09.
This could've been easy if only retail releases were of interest. But, let's complicate this unnecessarily, shall we?
In terms of retail releases, only a smattering of games drop this week for your favorite home console. The main event is, of course, NCAA Football '10. It boasts an updated roster (just like every year) and a couple new graphical tweaks. For examples, there is now a more complete field goal net. In other words, the posts in the game resemble those you'd see on an actual field. Also, in bowl games, the endzones now are painted with team colors. Oh, NCAA Football, you've come a long way, baby.
Sadly, no other retail goodies for non-Wii owners. So, if you don't own a Wii, or you're a mature, sane adult, feel free to skip this paragraph and the next. Two games are coming out for the Wii this week - Birthday Party Bash and Science Papa. Birthday Party Bash is exactly what it sounds like. It's a game that is intended to be played at a birthday party. Apparently, Nintendo aims to create achievements in games such as "Lose All Your Friends" or "Be a Virgin Well into Your Thirties." For a mere $39.99 plus tax, you can be the proud owner of about twenty exhilariting party games. Harsh critique, you say? Let the game speak for itself, but be forewarned, it may speak in tongues.
Science Papa is yet another mini-game based, Wii remote waggling, cartoon-style game. It's almost as though the Wii was made with Fisher Price parts. Luckily, purchasing this gem will only cost the end-user a scant $29.99 plus tax. A savings of ten dollars that could, perhaps, be put in the kitty until you could afford the lobotomy requisite to enjoy this sort of thing. This isn't to say that education is a bad thing, far from it. But if you're spending thirty dollars on a game that simulates chemistry and such, why not just purchase a chemistry set? As far as downloadable games, there's a pretty long list of releases this week. Here it goes: XBOX Live Arcade: Nintendo WiiWare: Nintendo Virtual Console:
