About a month ago, the trailer for Kevin Smith's "Cop Out" appeared online, and the masses did shrug while muttering "Meh". The comedy didn't look all that funny, and the performances felt a little flat to this critic. Now that the redband trailer for Smith's latest has arrived, though, it appears that the film might not be the unmitigated "Bleh" bomb that it appeared to be in the first batch of footage we took a look at. See for yourselves below, my gentle Examiner readers (and beware: it's redband for a reason):
What we've got today is the latest trailer for Kevin Smith's "Cop Out". This is the redband trailer, which means it's packed full of naughty words and situations that you really, really don't want to deal with at work. If you're allowed to, go ahead and click the play button:
What do you guys think? This writer thinks the movie looks a helluva lot more appealling in this trailer than it did in the last. This, of course, brings up that age-old argument: "Does swearing make things more funny?" I can answer that for you right now: Yes. Take a look at some Gallagher footage, or maybe a Sinbad retrospective, and then watch some new Chris Rock stuff. Which one did you laugh harder at? It's possible to be funny without profanity, of course, but there's just no substitute for a well-timed F-bomb.
