May 11 Premiere

Penny Dreadful (Showtime)
Airs Sundays at 10 p.m.

Showtime's Penny Dreadful showcases a few of literature's most terrifying creatures and characters. Nowhere else will you find Victor Frankenstein, Dorian Gray, Van Helsing, and other characters from the likes of Dracula novels in one show. Penny Dreadful has been called a psychological thriller that brings many classic horror stories together in a new and exciting drama, just for adults. Season one will consist of eight episodes.

May 30 Premiere

Crossbones (NBC)
Airs Fridays at 10 p.m.

The new NBC TV series Crossbones, is a fictionalized account of the life of the infamous pirate, "Blackbeard" Edward Teach. It is based on the book "The Republic of Pirates" by Colin Woodard and is scheduled to air for ten episodes. Taking place in the 1700s, the series will be full of action, intrigue and adventure as Blackbeard reigns supreme on the secret island of Santa Compana.
