The official MLS season for LA Galaxy began this Sunday, March 3, with a 4-0 big win over Chicago Fire. The new season is getting a fresh look from a new club President and a new name for the team’s home stadium in Carson, north of Long Beach.
The new club President is Chris Klein. After playing for LA Galaxy from 2007 to 2010, Klein became Senior Director of the Galaxy Academy. He was quickly promoted to become Vice President in February 2012 and was named President this January.
After Sunday’s season opener, LA Galaxy announced more big news. The team’s home stadium, long known as “The Home Depot Center” will be called “StubHub Center” starting June 1. This is the first stadium naming honor for StubHub, an advanced technology driven ticketing service company.
What else is new? Los Angles drivers can’t miss the action shots of Landon Donovan on billboards around Southern California. Galaxy makes a cameo appearance in a new iTunes music video called appropriately “Only in L.A.” And tomorrow, march 7, L.A. Galaxy will be sports ambassadors in the Central American paradise of Costa Rica. Local fans can watch them at a special broadcast with the Galaxy Star Squad at Auld Dubliner in Long Beach.
