Squaw Valley has 13 inches of new snow, according to a press release sent out today, February 27, by Melissa Brouse, who along with Amelia Richmond, is on the Communications team at Squaw and Alpine Meadows.
The snow continues to fall. With NOAA predicting storms running through this Sunday and perhaps into Monday, the powder will just get deeper.
Brouse says that now is the time to head up and take advantage of the deals:
"Skiers and riders looking to take full advantage of the fresh snow can purchase the Tahoe Super 4 Pack. The 4 Pack offers four unrestricted days of skiing and riding anytime this season for less than $88 a day for adults, $75 for young adults and seniors, and $50 for kids - with absolutely no blackout dates. Tahoe Super 4 Packs are available for purchase on squaw.com and skialpine.com, or by calling 800-403-0206."
As for the conditions, skiers describe the skiing as the best it's been all season. At Squaw and Alpine Meadows, there are "...a combined 27 lifts and 135 trails open. In addition to great skiing and riding on the fresh snow, guests can also enjoy snowtubing, mini-snowmobiles, shopping and dining in The Village at Squaw Valley. Squaw’s Wanderlust Yoga Studio also offers a full schedule of 19 yoga classes per week, and is open seven days a week."
At Sierra-at-Tahoe, over a foot of fresh powder has fallen. Steve Hemphill, Communications Director at Sierra, said that they expect snow to continue to fall through the weekend. They are fully open, and there are smiles all over the mountain.
Heavenly reports 10 inches of snow so far. The series of storms that are lined up are expected to more than double that amount.
Mt. Rose had 9 inches of fresh snow this morning. They are also getting ready for quite a bit more.
And so it goes. A late start is better than no start. The storm door is, for now, open. Wax up the skis and boards, and check out the conditions at your favorite resort right here, before you head up:
