New Port Richey native Michael Malterer kicks off City Council campaign

On Monday afternoon, Jan. 7, Michael Malterer officially announced his candidacy for the New Port Richey (Fla.) City Council. Later Monday evening, Malterer and his campaign also announced the time and location for his official campaign kick-off party.

Where to find the campaign kick-off party

Michael Malterer has chosen Boulevard Beef and Ale as the location for his campaign kick-off party, which can be found at 6236 Grand Boulevard in New Port Richey. The party will take place on Friday, Jan. 18, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Supporters are asked to contribute a $10 campaign donation, which will cover the cost of appetizers, a drink, and a ticket to win a prize in the raffle contest.

More about Michael Malterer

Michael Malterer is a lifetime New Port Richey resident. He was born at North Bay Hospital and graduated from Ridgewood High School. When he was 16 years old, he met the lady that would later be his wife. Both Malterer and his soon-to-be wife attended Ridgewood High School and worked at Sonic.

Currently, Malterer works as an Operations Manager for Penske Truck Leasing. He volunteers in the Outreach Ministry for Generations Christian Church, where he presently attends with his wife. In addition to the time Malterer spends at his church, he also mentors for Big Brothers Big Sisters as a mentor and volunteers for his local Masonic Lodge.

Experiences that encouraged Malterer’s to enter politics

Michael Malterer first got involved in politics when he attended Bible College. Malterer volunteered for the Mike Huckabee for President Campaign. Since that time, he has volunteered for a few different local campaigns and other political issues.

Malterer currently campaigning for New Port Richey City Council

Michael Malterer is currently campaigning for the New Port Richey City Council. There are no other declared candidates, but there will be two City Council seats opening up for election in April.

At this time, one of these seats is held by the Deputy Mayor Rob Marlowe and the other by Councilman Bob Langford. Both of these gentlemen have served multiple terms on the New Port Richey City Council.

Malterer's political platform

Malterer's political platform for this upcoming City Council election for New Port Richey consists of the following:

  • Eliminate all red-light cameras in New Port Richey
  • Balance the city budget
  • Reduce regulations on small businesses
  • Provide leadership and common-sense solutions on re-development issues, while working to bring new businesses and tourists to New Port Richey
