The newly opened Parker Police Station has been honored by Engineering News Record (ENR) Mountain States Magazine with the Best of 2011 award in the Best Government/Public Building category.
Completed in late 2010, the 54,000 square foot LEED-Silver building, located at 18600 Lincoln Meadows Pkwy., is a purpose-built facility that meets life safety and national accreditation standards.
Not only is the structure built to be Green for the future, the architects also built it for beauty. A sculpture of an eagle stands atop a huge structure and the lines of the building are clean and slick. Artist Adam Schultz created the life-sized bronze eagle in flight to represent safety and strength.
The base of the sculpture includes a “circle of hands” — tiles pressed with handprints of local community members from young children to senior citizens, metaphorically representing the support and involvement of the community.
