New ‘Pokemon X’ and ‘Pokemon Y’ screens show starters and legendaries (Photos)

Nintendo has released a new set of screenshots and artworks on Jan. 14 for their upcoming Nintendo 3DS titles, “Pokemon X” and “Pokemon Y.” The latest images show off the three starters players can pick from at the beginning of both video games: Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie. The artworks of Yveltal and Xerneas, the two new legendary creatures are also featured in the batch. You can check out the new screens and artworks, as well as several older shots, in the slideshow at the top of this article.

“Pokemon X” and “Pokemon Y” was first announced by Nintendo on Jan. 8. The sixth generation of the “Pokemon” franchise will be the first video games to feature 3D graphics. It will also mark the first mainline titles to appear on the Nintendo 3DS handheld system.

Nintendo will be releasing “Pokemon X” and “Pokemon Y” exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS in North America and other regions sometime in Oct. 2013.
