New Planet Beer Company out of Boulder, CO has introduced a new gluten free beer onto the shelves of Boulder and Denver liquor stores. Tread Lightly Ale boasts a crisp, light flavor similar to that of a cider but not nearly as sweet, and lacks the somewhat bitter aftertaste that many of the gluten free beers have. Appropriately named Tread Lightly Ale has only 90 calories, so you can sip away guilt free all summer long.
Founded by Pedro Gonzalez, who has Celiac, and his wife, Seneca Murley, New Planet Beer contracts with Boulder based Twisted Pine Brewing CO and is brewed in small batches so it's distribution is limited to the Denver/Boulder/Longmont areas, but worth the drive. They expect to distribute statewide in Colorado in the spring of 2010, until then you can find a complete list of where to imbibe on their website.
For the eco-friendly Celiacs, New Planet Beer is dedicated to bettering this planet and plans to give a portion of their annual proceeds to conservation organizations in Colorado. You can keep up to date on the projects they support here.
Just the start of what hopes to be a full line of gluten free beers, New Planet Beer already has the attention of the Celiac community. Much success to them as they grow both their brand and their beers.

Thanks Libby for another great post. I have tried this beer and it is good. Also worth going up to Boulder for a tasting and a tour.
