A new effort to renovate the area of Ringo Starr's birthplace on Madryn Street and save it from demolition without cost to the local taxpayers has been offered to the Liverpool City Council, a local author involved in the campaign said today.
David Bedford, author of the book "Liddypool: Birthplace of the Beatles" and a member of the Save Madryn Street campaign, told us “Ian Robinson from Regeneration Express Ltd. contacted the Save Madryn Street campaign very early on, and we have been working with him on putting a solid proposal together. What Ian had achieved in Anfield, Liverpool, was incredible. His company had taken a street of empty, derelict buildings and restored them to their former glory, and more, making use of the fantastic existing architecture and design, and making them desirable homes again.
"Their track record is superb, and, what appealed to the campaign organisers, was that this scheme takes away any cost from the Liverpool City Council, and funds the whole project from private funds. This way, the local council who are currently faced with no funds, and heavy demolition costs at a time when they have to save millions in their budget, can pass the whole of this scheme to Regeneration Express and have the responsibility for the whole of the Dingle area taken away from them.

"This way, the Welsh Streets get saved; Ringo’s birthplace is saved; Liverpool City council saves thousands of pounds in unnecessary demolition costs. It is win: win: win," Bedford said.
The new renovation plan awaits a response from the City Council, reports Click Liverpool.
The move comes on the heels of a call by Housing Minister Grant Shapps on New Year's Day to stop the demolition plans "to ensure the people of Liverpool have a chance to have their say in what happens," according to the Department for Communities and Local Government.
