The New York City bike-share program now offers perks to members, Citi Bike announced yesterday.
Currently users of the bike-share program can get a $10 discount on Transportation Alternative's NYC Century Bike Tour, which takes place Sunday Sept. 8. You don't have to do a "century" (100 miles) nor do you have to use a Citi Bike.
The tour lets riders choose from routes of 15, 35, 55 and 75 miles as well as 100 miles. All are entirely on streets and bridges within the five boroughs.
"Whether you’re a life-long New Yorker, or in town for the weekend, the NYC Century Bike Tour is an epic exploration of the world’s greatest city," said the announcement. The full price for all routes is $60 for adults who are not members of Transportation Alternatives, $50 for members, and $30 for youths under the age of 17. For $80, nonmembers can join the organization at the same time as they register for the tour .
The discount is available only online. These prices are good until Monday, Aug. 19, when they rise to an as-yet unspecified amount
The tour has two starting points: Central Park in Manhattan and Prospect Park in Brooklyn. The 15-mile option is meant for first-timers and families and goes from Central Park to Prospect Park,
All proceeds from the event are used by Transportation Alternatives to fund its advocacy work on behalf of local cyclists and pedestrians.
