New Patsy Cline CD has fans singing (Photos)

“The Divine Ms. Cline” is a new CD getting rave reviews from original fans and new fans alike. This is a CD like no other, say the producers. It features previously unreleased material and a revamping of the classics.

“The Divine Ms. Cline” boasts six previously unreleased live performances, to include “She’s Got You,” and new overdubs of twenty of Patsy's studio tracks. Producer Larry Jordan explains, “We took Patsy masters, stripped them down to the bare essentials, gave her vocals 24-bit digital remastering, then combined them with all new instrumentation using current members of the Grand Ole Opry band as well as other well known Nashville musicians.” Jordan adds proudly, “Our CD is the only one of its kind and it’s the first time anybody has ever done 20 overdubs.” The creative and ambitious project is a labor of love for Jordan and the UK label H&H.

In original versions of Patsy Cline’s songs, the musicians and backup singers often upstaged her vocals. This CD stripped away the singing and music to put Cline back in the spotlight. On “Crazy,” a song that debuted at Nashville’s own Grand Ole Opry, jazz style piano and strings solely accompany Cline. On "South of the Border" a pretty Spanish guitar, twin trumpets and strings replace the backup singers.

Besides the CD, there are 16 pages of liner notes. The notes include quotes from people who knew Cline personally or had the pleasure of seeing her perform live.

The CD is receiving wonderful reviews. One listener writes, “The sound is pure and makes Patsy sound fresh and new! My most favorite would be the remake of ‘Leavin’ On Your Mind.’ It sounds so pretty and as if it was recorded today.” Another fan wrote, “Although Patsy's originals will always be just that, these new releases speak movie score. A fresh sound, especially for newcomers to her music.” (Source)

Music lovers agree: there will never be another voice like Patsy Cline. She was taken from us far too soon. With this digitally remastered, fresh approach to conserve her songs, rest assured she will be in our hearts – and our music players – forever.
