New Ozaukee Humane Society now open

The Ozaukee Campus of the Wisconsin Humane Society opened for adoptions on March 26, 2011. That Saturday, 59 animals found new homes. The official grand opening party is set for Saturday, May 14th from 1pm to 4pm, with a doggie costume parade at 1pm. Face painting, hot dog bobbing, and a K9 officer are just some of the festivities.

The brand new facility is located at 630 W. Dekora Street on Highway 33 in Saukville, Wisconsin. It is the only LEED-certified animal shelter in the midwest. The shelter pays tribute, as the "Victoria Wellens Center", to the former director of the Wisconsin Humane Society.

Animals available for adoption can be viewed online as well as during adoption hours, Tuesday through Sunday.
