Running back Darren Sproles will be heading up to Pennsylvania as ESPN's Adam Schefter revealed on the morning of Thursday, March 13, 2014, that he has now been traded. Schefter revealed on Twitter that Sproles has been traded by the New Orleans Saints to the Philadelphia Eagles.
The trade has been reported as being for an undisclosed draft pick. A source has claimed it to be a fifth-round draft pick, but it has not been confirmed as of 9:15 a.m. EST on Thursday.
Even though the full schedule has not been revealed for the upcoming season, the Saints won't have to play against Sproles. Philadelphia is not on the list of 2014 opponents for New Orleans so the tiny running back will not be getting any type of payback this year.
According to a rant by his wife Michel Sproles on Instagram, he would have liked to have gotten some against the Saints.
It was originally stated that Sproles would be traded by the team, but then the Saints said he was going to be released. Once the interest was built up, the Saints decided to hold onto him and trade him instead.
Sproles wasn't happy about that and said he wanted to be released so he could decide where he ended up going.
As of Wednesday afternoon, it had been the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans that had shown the most interest in trading for him.
