It's almost time again for the New Orleans Sacred Music Festival.
Now in its third year, this event not only brings together those of different cultures and faiths, but celebrates those differences, traditions, and beliefs reminding us all once again that we each share a connection to one another, and to this world.
Scheduled for Saturday, March 15, from noon to 9 P.M., the theme of the 2014 New Orleans Sacred Music Festival is "Kindred Spirits."
This year's festival features a fire ceremony, a Native American Blessing, a women's circle, educational booths, activities for kids, food, arts and crafts - - - and of course, lots of music! Performances include Japanese percussionist Mayumi "Shara" Vurzu, 101 Runners, hip-hop artist Chuck Perkins, Medieval choral star Claudia Copeland, and many more. Click here for the full lineup.
Sponsored by the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation, The Congo Square Roots of Rhythms Festival, New Orleans Musicians Assistance Foundation, Putumayo World Music, Interfaith Works and more. A portion of the proceeds will benefit The New Orleans Community Outreach, a non-profit organization created to offer financially vulnerable New Orleans residents access to many of the programs and services offered by the New Orleans Healing Center.
