The New Orleans Jazz Festival offers music for people of all ages. Whether you prefer Eric Clapton or Santana, if you like to dance with Christina Aguilera or Trey Songz, or if you'd rather groove with Phish, the Stanton Moore Trio, or The String Cheese Incident, there is something for you. Where else can you find Public Enemy playing alongside Lyle Lovett?
The New Orleans Jazz Festival will take place the last weekend in April and the first weekend in May. There is still time to book travel, and this is one eclectic festival that is not to be missed. An example of the diversity of the festival can be found on my birthday, May 3rd, when Bruce Springsteen will play along with Joe Krown Trio, featuringWalter Wolfman Washington and Russell Batiste Jr., Foster The People, Trey Songs, Better Than Ezra, Alan Toussaint, the Mardi Gras Indians and nearly 70 other performers.
Hundreds of performers will play the New Orleans Jazz Festival throughout the two weekends. It's not just the music that is entertaining; there are also plenty of vendors, from jewelers and mask makers, to my personal favorite, the fresh crawfish rolls. Grab some friends, bring a flag to mark your blanket in the grass, and don't forget your dancing shoes.
