New Orleans Hornets win without Chris Paul

The New Orleans Hornets proved they really don't need Chris Paul Friday night December 16, 2011 in a preseason win over the Memphis Grizzlies with a final score of 97-90.

Point guard Jarrett Jack stepped up for the Hornets and led the team to victory being the top scorer for the team with 24 points.  Jack also had six rebounds and six assists in the game.  Jack played with intensity in the three quarters of the game in which he played, sitting out the final quarter.  The Hornets surged in the final minutes of the game with an 8-1 run.

Other top scorers for the Hornets in the game against Memphis were Quincy Pondexter and Emeka Okafor both scoring 12 points each, Trevor Ariza scoring 11 points, Carldell Johnson scoring 10 points in the game.  Johnson was a crucial player for the Hornets that came into the game in the fourth quarter making a huge impact on the game and securing the win for the Hornets.

This was the first performance by the Hornets since the trade of Chris Paul, point guard to the Los Angeles Clippers last week.

The win was also secured without the help of the newly required players in the trade involving Chris Paul.  The Hornets received Kris Caman, Eric Gordan, and Al-Farouq Aminu in the trade.

The Hornets seem to be regrouping just fine without Chris Paul even though half of the team are rookies and have never played in the NBA before.
