In a statement released today, the New Orleans Hornets fired coach Byron Scott and replaced him with General Manager Jeff Bower. Hornets owner, George Shinn stated that the move gives the Hornets the best opportunity "to reach our goals this season."
New Orleans has not done well so far this season, and Scott, 48, isn’t the only one to blame. The team traded quite a few players for financial reasons, and the team’s roster isn’t very good this year. Most likely Bower won't do any better with this team.
The New Orleans Hornets lost to Phoenix on Wednesday 124-104 and fell to 3-6 to start the season.
Byron Scott was born in Ogden, Utah and in 2007-2008 he was awarded the NBA coach of the year award. Scott was named the head coach of the 2008 Western Conference All-Star team, and shortly after that the Hornets gave him a two-year extension on his contract.
