New Orleans Bistro Style Crab Mornay

The Super Bowl is this Sunday. If you're looking for a fast, easy, yet elegant dish this crab mornay is the just ticket. Even football loving men appreciate this rich and creamy dish. 
 
While many people looking for healthy dishes still follow the eroneous low fat model of diet, this dish is healthier because it's low in carbohydrates. New Orleans Bistro Style Crab Mornay 
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3 tablespoons all purpose flour or coconut flour
  • 2 teaspoons white pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 pint milk or cream
  • 1 pound white crab meat, shelled and cleaned
  • 1 pound Monterey jack cheese, grated
  • 1 cup sharp Cheddar cheese, grated, for topping

  1. Melt butter.
  2. Add flour, pepper, and salt. Make a paste by adding milk slowly.
  3. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until a thick white sauce forms.
  4. Grease a 3 quart baking dish.
  5. Layer crab meat, Monterey jack cheese, then white sauce.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees 20 to 25 minutes.
  7. Top with Cheddar cheese and bake until melted.
