New organic cotton baby product line encourages literacy

Runway Baby Organics, based in Miami, was founded in September 2013, and launched its forward-thinking collectible line Book in a Blanket in November. For each product sold, the company will donate one to a child in need. To help deliver on its promise, Runway Baby Organics partnered with Good360, a nonprofit leader in product philanthropy that distributes goods to a network of more than 32,000 prequalified charities, schools and libraries on behalf of America's top brands.

Why organic? Why is it green?

Although conventional cotton only uses 3% of the world's farmland, it requires 25% of the world's chemical pesticides to grow. These chemicals are responsible for many health issues affecting babies' skin, issues that go beyond contact dermatitis. For its Book in a Blanket (BIB) range of collectibles, Runway Baby Organics uses Pakucho Organic Cotton, the best, most luxurious organic yarn in the world, GOTS certified at the source, free of substances that can be unsafe for humans.

"There's nothing wrong with looking nice, polished, and in trend," says Ana Cristiana, Runway Baby Organics founder and owner. "However, fashion for babies and toddlers needs to go beyond the trend. It needs to be beautiful, safe for kids and the environment at the same time, practical and educational. Education is the greatest charity you can give. My business concept brings all these elements together, and adds a message of love to underprivileged children all over the world: You are loved, too!"

In all, there will be 12 blankets and 12 books in the Book in a Blanket (BIB) collection, each design a limited edition worldwide. The book, Planet Hope by Ana Cristiana, is a free addition with love from the author for each blanket purchased. To further the ideals of social entrepreneurship that drive the business, for each item sold, Runway Baby Organics will donate a book and an organic blanket to a child in need. The goal: sell 10000 BIBs, donate 10000 BIBs. To learn more visit Indiegogo BIB campaign.
