Tonight, Philip Glass has lined up a one-time, amazing live collaboration for the 24th annual Tibet House US Benefit Concert. New Order and Iggy Pop are stated to perform and have just instagrammed a photo of the photo of the Proto-Punk legend and Post-Punk group in rehearsal.
When asked about the event, New Order vocalist-guitarist Bernard Sumner had this to say:
“The whole concert is done in the spirit of collaboration. It’s a real thrill for me because I’m such a big fan — all of us are.”
A musical version of a poem written by Mike Garry inspired by New Order’s “Your Silent Face” titled “Saint Anthony” will be performed.
“The poem is about Anthony Wilson, our ex-label boss in Manchester, who was our spiritual father,” Sumner said. “Philip was quite keen to have poetry involved because Allen Ginsberg was a part of the festival and performed at it until his death.”
The National, Patti Smith and her Band, musician Jesse Smith, composer Nico Muhly, and Tibetan singer Technung are all also slated to perform.
