New on Netflix: the second season of 'Derek' starts a busy week

This week’s list of new Netflix Streaming releases begins today with season 2 of the Ricky Gervais comedy-drama “Derek,” starring Gervais as a caretaker at a nursing home. The series is rated 3.9 out of 5 by over 340,000 Netflix viewers as of this writing, continuing Netflix’s streak of popular and diverse original programming.

The first of the month always brings a flood of releases, and with June 1st landing on a Sunday, you have a chance to catch up on several classics arriving to the service, including the classic thriller “Carrie,” “Apocalypse Now Redux” and the more recent animated classic “The Triplets of Belleville.” You can view more of the many releases coming out on the 1st in the slideshow above.
