This week’s Netflix offerings begins today with 2011’s “Kill Zombie!” a, you guessed it, zombie thriller. It’s your standard “Russian space station crashes and unleashes a zombie plague” story. It’s the beginning of an interesting, varied week of Netflix streaming releases.
The most high-profile release of the week might be the first and only season of AMC’s “Low Winter Sun,” which was placed in the enviable position of following “Breaking Bad” during that show’s final, highest-rated year. Mark Strong and Lennie James Star. The show premieres on Netflix on August 12. That same day brings a show in its 4th season, SyFy’s “Haven,” which was inspired by Stephen King’s “The Colorado Kid.” The show stars Emily Rose, Lucas Bryant and Eric Balfour.
Later in the week brings a pair of very different releases from this year. August 13 brings the animated comedy-heist film “The Nut Job,” featuring the voice talents of Will Arnett, Gabriel Iglesias, Liam Neeson, Brendan Fraser and many more. August 14 brings a Danny Trejo actioner, the terrifically named “Bad Ass 2: Bad Asses.” Trejo plays a Vietnam vet named Frank Vega who’s hell-bent on revenge. Bloody hijinx ensue. the film is a sequel to 2012’s “Bad Ass,” and promises to answer the questions left hanging by the first movie.

Haven: Season 4
Inspired by Stephen King's The Colorado Kid, this creepy series is set in Haven, Maine, where residents are plagued by supernatural afflictions. FBI agent Audrey Parker feels connected to this place and delves into her own past to discover the truth.
Low Winter Sun: Season 1
When a detective murders a fellow Detroit cop, a protracted journey into Motor City's underworld ensues in this drama based on a British miniseries. Mark Strong reprises his role as the detective, whose deadly encounter drags him into deeper trouble.
