WINNIPEG — Indian City has chosen Festival du Voyageur to release "Supernation," their first opus. The new group will perform at the annual event on February 18 and 20.
Created by Eagle & Hawk's Vince Fontaine, Indian City offers a fusion of modern pop and rock blended with Indigenous themes and traditional sounds. The collective comprises of Don Amero (vocals), Pamela Davis (vocals), William Prince (vocals), Ray "Coco" Stevenson (traditional vocals), Fontaine (guitar and vocals), Neewa Mason (vocals and percussion), Marty Chapman (drums), Atik Mason (bass guitar), Gerry Atwell (keys), and Jamie Carrasco (percussions), as well as multi-style dancer Buffy Handel.
“Supernation” is a 10-track exploration of modern and Indigenous themes through sketches of musical artistry: “I’ve always been inspired by the synergy that happens when a group of tremendously creative artists comes together for the same purpose,” says Fontaine. “While writing and recording Supernation, it became obvious that Indian City is not only a musical collaboration, but also a collaboration of art and community.”
