Sisters Sarah, Amber, and Julia Ross first started performing as the group Everlife in 1997. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Nashville to pursue their musical careers, and signed a deal with Disney/Buena Vista. The teens contributed to 12 Disney compilation CDs, and opened for acts such as The Cheetah Girls, Miley Cyrus, and The Jonas Brothers. They’ve also released several albums of their own music. Now, as adults, they are branching out on their own with a new CD, At The End Of Everything. Amber gave us a little more insight into the band’s new direction:
Q: Is this your first independent album since your Disney days?
A: We have released two EPs and one single independently since our Disney days, but this is our first full-length independent album.
Q: What challenges did you face (in making a record independently) that you didn't expect?
A: I think the biggest challenge we weren't expecting was taking a large chunk of our time to really focus on songwriting. We have been writing songs on the road for years, and our previous projects always felt somewhat rushed and disjointed. Whereas this project we were able to live with the songs and get them sounding right to us.
Q: Tell us about recording At The End Of Everything.
A: We recorded in Nashville at Zodlounge Studios with Brett Vargason, Todd Shay and Tom Michael. Working with these three guys was incredible because they caught the vision of our story and how we wanted to tell it through song.
Q: A portion of the album proceeds benefit a charity, Conduit Mission. What would you want to tell your fans about the work Conduit Mission does? And do some proceeds from ALL album sales help the mission, or just at the CD release show?
A: My husband Jeremy helped create the non-profit Conduit Mission along with Darren Tyler in 2007. We basically have had the goal of being a "conduit" of resources to the hopeless and hurting around the world and here in our own backyards. Conduit Mission has helped build a child sponsorship program in Jacmel, Haiti where we're providing kids with daily meals and education. We've started an orphanage in Togo, West Africa, helped support a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in Columbia TN (Place of Hope) and have offered immediate disaster relief to Nashville, Haiti, Japan, and Alabama.
Sarah and I have been to Jacmel, Haiti to meet our sponsor children and work in the community building new homes and bringing school supplies. Sarah also helps organize the short term trips.
At our CD release show we'll have a time for people to donate to Conduit Mission, but we're giving part of the proceeds of all At The End Of Everything album sales to benefit the mission!
