Your guess is as good as mine. The sudden surge of a particular Brothers Grimm fairytale is almost inexplicable. The first is Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as you guessed it, Hansel and Gretel bounty hunters. If you want to check out that silver-screen gem, you can see it in theaters now. Next on deck is a horror film from the producers of Twilight called Hansel & Gretel Get Baked. The film stars Molly Quinn and Michael Welch as Hansel and Gretel, not bounty hunters, but hungry stoners searching for food and their lost friend. I suppose re-telling the story as a horror film about two stoners whose hunger leads them in to danger is a little more palatable; considering that is the premise for countless horror films. At Least Hansel & Gretel Get Baked is wise enough not to take itself too seriously (not really sure how it could). The same cannot be said for our darling bounty hunters.
