Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and a thousands of Twilight fans were on hand for the world premiere of New Moon Monday night in Los Angeles, the second film in the series.
Fans lined up in Westwood Village, site of the original Twilight premiere, long before the stars began walking down the red carpet. Some fans camped out five days in advance of the premiere to save their prime viewing spot.
Robert Pattinson, who plays vampire Edward Cullen in the film, told TIME magazine as he walked the red carpet, "You can't really prepare for something like this. I don't know how the Beatles felt, but this is kind of ...I think very few human beings can ever get this same feeling."
Fans hoping to see any semblance of a blossoming romance between Pattinson and his leading lady, Kristen Stewart, who plays Bella, were disappointed. The two kept their distance from each other as they walked the red carpet, most likely to stave off any rumors of a relationship.
Stewart commented on the fan frenzy as she signed autographs, "I'm not as scared as I was last year. At some point, the security guy said, 'This is very unsafe.' And I was like, 'Uh.' Other than that, everything was cool."
