Already in the state of New York Gov. Cuomo - D is scrambling to make changes to his over-reaching and trampling of the 2nd Amendment and severe Gun Control law. He has already felt the heat from moderate Republicans and a lawsuit has been filed by a NY Gun Group.
Colorado's Gov. Hickenlooper - D also signed very restrictive gun Control laws. Democrats in many of these gun grabbing states are leading the charge to trample the 2nd Amendment. Most of the laws they are passing admittingly will do very little to reduce gun violence.
New Mexico in their lofty goal to "Keep up" and or "out-do" the other liberal gun grabbing Democrats Hicknelooper and Cuomo were trying to pass their own form of a bogus gun control law in an effort to restrict more law abiding citizens from buying guns by making any private transfer a crime at gun shows.

The reality is that the "Gun Show Loophole" is a Joke! There are private transfers of firearms that take place all the time in New Mexico with probably the biggest chunk not being done at gun shows. Friends who hunt and shoot together all across the state buy, trade and sell guns from each other all the time. Many times these transfers are amongst family members too. Many of the buyers and sellers have their CCW licenses and are law abiding citizens in good standing. Gun shows are NOT the only place that private individuals buy guns from each other so the "Gun Show" loophole is a pure fallacy. Any background checks to include the ones Miguel Garcia and now the Majority Leader Michael Sanchez - D (Belen) is pushing for would miss the exact people who have caused most of the mass shooting. Until HIPPA health care laws can be relaxed or adjusted to capture the mentally ill amongst us that may have access to guns, all the background checks in the world are USELESS!!
HB 77-supporter Senate Majority Leader Michael Sanchez (D-Belen) sternly warned that this bill will be back again in the future, and he publicly challenged Governor Susana Martinez (R) to put it on the agenda for the 2014 legislative session.
Once again the ignorance and arrogance of these elected officials that believe the mere passing of a law that would make most law abiding citizens now "Criminals" will miss those that would be willing and able to commit heinous crimes is befuddling!
Also defeated this session were House Bill 402, a sweeping New York-style gun and magazine ban, and House Bill 578, banning the carrying of firearms in the state capitol. Both were sponsored by state Representative Stephen Easley (D-Eldorado). HB 402 was narrowly defeated in the House Consumer & Public Affairs Committee by a 3-2 vote. The House Republican Caucus had sent a letter to this committee stating their uniform opposition to HB 402, as reported here by the NRA-ILA. HB 578 never received a public hearing in the House Rules Committee.
Many of the members of the Zia Rifle & Pistol Club; the largest private gun club in the state with over 1,500 members located in Albuquerque showed up in force to show there support for gun rights, the 2nd Amendment and to let legislators know that these gun control laws were restrictive and unacceptable to law abiding gun owners.
The continued trampling of the 2nd Amendment will not stop. The Democratic party has pretty much shown their true colors and many in the party have been caught discussing and or promoting full blown gun confiscation.
Right here in New Mexico the misguided and misinformed Senate Majority Leader Michael Sanchez D-Belen obviously will need to be re-educated and will now feel the pressure from law abiding gun owners all across the state.
