New 'LENNONYC' Blu-ray just out includes more interviews not on regular DVD

The Blu-ray version of the PBS John Lennon documentary "LENNONYC" wasn't available when the original DVD came out, but it hit the streets Tuesday.

And though the original DVD didn't contain any bonus features, the Blu-ray does -- 20 minutes of additional interviews of those seen in the documentary

The eight segments have interviews with those in the documentary, including "Double Fantasy" producer Jack Douglas and photographer Bob Gruen. The segments are arranged in a similar manner to that of the DVD with topics for each one. These include "Sailing," "Newsmakers," "Juice Fast," "Hong Kong," NYC T-shirt photo" and "Dec. 8, 1980." The last one includes more reminiscences of the day he was murdered.

As we wrote in our review of the film, "LENNONYC" is an indepth and revealing look at John Lennon's post-Beatles years up until his death. The film includes unreleased outtakes and film footage. Those interviewed in the movie, besides Douglas and Gruen, include Yoko Ono, Dick Cavett, May Pang, guitarists Klaus Voormann and Earl Slick and disc jockey Dennis Elsas. It is the best of this year's Lennon-related film projects.
