The cinematic Austin institution, otherwise known as the Alamo Drafthouse, is welcoming a brand new bouncing movie theater in the Lakeline area. This new venue, which features all the regular dinner-and-a-movie hijinks, will boast a stand-alone bar called 'Glass Half Full' and a convenient location in the Lakeline Market Shopping Center on Hwy 183. Alamo Drafthouse Lakeline has its grand opening this Monday, July 22nd.
Not only is this the largest of all the Austin Alamo Drafthouse theaters, but it's state of the art. The Lakeline Alamo Drafthouse is taking the place of nearby Lake Creek Alamo Drafthouse, which closes its doors Sunday night, July 21st.
The Lakeline Alamo will feature ten screens, and a kick-ass 'grand opening' movie line-up and the opportunity to meet special guest stars and wear costumes. Yes, I said costumes. Since the Alamo Lakeline lobby is ape-themed, moviegoers are encouraged to wear ape or ape-related costumes to the special screening of the 1968 Planet of the Apes.
There will be an Edgar Wright triple-feature event next Saturday, July 27th, that will not only offer a screening of dark comedies Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, but a special early screening of Wright's newest installment The World's End. Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, the stars of these movies, will be in attendance for a Q & A.
There will be all sorts of events and screenings, from a 'Girlie Night' cinematic offering to an all-you-can-eat Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pizza party. Check out the Alamo Drafthouse website for a full schedule of events and screenings
