New John Lennon signature harmonica a bit more costly than '60s version

Hohner Inc., which sold a Beatles harmonica in the '60s, will be offering "The John Lennon 'Imagine' Signature Harmonica" this spring.

The new harmonica is made in Germany and features white cover-plates, a clear acrylic comb and an embedded signature of Lennon. The instrument is "to celebrate John Lennon’s spirit of creativity which continues to inspire musical and popular culture," according to director of marketing and sales Scott Emmerman.

The list price on the new instrument is $99. Its minimum advertised price is $79.99. By contrast, the Beatles Hohner harmonica in the '60s sold for $2.

The new harmonica debuted at the 2012 Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim. It will be available at selected dealers starting in April.
